Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a federally-funded TRIO program dedicated to helping veterans achieve their educational and career goals. Whether you seek college preparation, to refresh your academic skills, or to explore new career pathways, we provide personalized support every step of the way.
We aim to honor your service by helping you transition successfully from military life to higher education and beyond. Services are provided at no cost to participating Veteran students.

Eligibility
Veterans Upward Bound serves Veterans from every US military branch who:
- Have served on active duty in the US Armed Forces and received other than dishonorable discharge.
- Are interested in pursuing postsecondary education.
- Meet or are considered first-generation college students.
- Need assistance developing academic skills necessary for college success.

While services are designed for Veterans, family members are welcome to attend selected workshops and community events.
91抖阴 is one of 60 institutions across the nation to receive a grant award, totaling $1,437,685 across five years (2022-27), to create the Veterans Upward Bound program.
Riverside County has the third largest Veteran population in California and the eighth largest Veteran population of any county in the US. Over 27,000 Veterans reside within the 91抖阴's service area, most of whom served in the Gulf War (46.2 percent) and 37 percent are under the age of 55. The city of Moreno Valley is also home to the March Air Force Reserve Base.
Participating students must attend a free orientation to review program requirements, network with other Veteran students, receive help with the application process, and access to one-on-one educational counseling. Plus, you can ask questions and receive an assessment of your current academic standing.
Refresher courses are designed to enhance your existing academic skills, help you prepare for college-level coursework. They are one-hour long, designed to work with your unique schedule, and are offered in beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. You may take as many as you like.
- English courses cover grammar, composition and college-level writing.
- Mathematics courses cover basic and practical skills, pre-algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and college preparation.
- Science courses cover the biological and physical sciences.
- Foreign language classes provide opportunities to learn and refine Spanish reading, writing and speaking.

- Academic Success Center: Access free tutoring, study space, supplemental instruction, computers, printing and more.
- Library: Find scholarly articles, check out books and media, attend workshops, study or use computers.
- Disability Support Services: Receive accommodations such as special equipment, note takers, interpreters, extended test time, and more so you can successfully complete your classes.
